• West Calder High School 11th PALS Battalion 'B' Company at the 51st Highland Divisions monument at the Somme

  • Cushions that last years S3 produced in the Textile Elective.

  • The last day of term was Pies for Peru day again at West Calder HS, as pupils paid good money to throw foam-filled plates at brave members of staff. Looks like David's on target with this one!

Our successful school of approximately 830 pupils serves the Calders areas of West Lothian. At West Calder HS, we value our learning, our relationships and our positive attitudes, which I hope you will see coming through in the various pages of this website.

As well as securing consistently good exam results overall we have a large number of pupils who are successful in other ways too, including in a wide variety of sports and music and, for example, in demonstrating leadership and good citizenship around the school and the community.

We aim to ensure that all of our students leave not only with the best possible academic qualifications but also with the resilience and confidence required to be successful in further and higher education and in the world of work.

I hope you enjoy browsing the site and find the information you are looking for. Please use the 'contact us' pages to get in touch with us if you would like to ask a question or suggest other items for inclusion.

Pupil Art Pack Offer S3 –S6

Art Materials Pack

Although the department is adequately resourced, students have asked about purchasing their own art materials. Art materials can be expensive to purchase in high street shops, and therefore we have decided to produce an Art Pack that contains all the essential art materials at a subsidised price. We are able to do this by buying in bulk, and taking advantage of school non payment of VAT. This would allow certificate students to have access to their own high quality materials without having to share across S1 –S6 classes.
